Debra Luccio's best pictures have her dancers straining, so there is a sense of pain as much as grace. Backs are arched, legs are stretched and muscles have definition that undercuts the prettiness of Luccio's touch. While her technical prowess is plain in her paintings, these don't have the emotional pull of her monotypes, which, with their more scratchy effects, capture a sense of both transience and timelessness. ...
